Ryan always had a love for the outdoors, he grew up in the country on a small plant nursery his family owned. He went on his first whitewater trip when he was 7 and was introduced to a side of nature he'd never seen before. This side of the southeastern outdoors felt wild and free, chaotic but controlled. It triggered something inside of him that he has not forgotten.

15 years past before he was on whitewater again. Here he found an outdoors, adventure seeking, conservation-minded community that lived to support and teach each other. After that trip with his wife and some friends, he saved up and bought his first “hard boat”. Only being able to afford a few trips a year those trips became his mental resets. On one of those trips he was introduced to slacklining, and his life changed forever.

Slacklining became apart of his daily practice. Slacklining began to transform his body and his mind. Instant meditation is one way he describes slacklining. Ryan found his center on a 1-inch piece of nylon and is building a future around all things balance.

Ryan is founder and owner of Balancing Earth Slacklines, his goal is to get everyone on a slackline and living a more balanced life.

A seasoned kayaker turned slackliner Ryan enjoys all things outdoors. He's a father to two amazing kids and a partner in life to his best friend. Together they laugh, love, play, and seek adventure. You can find Ryan along with his #slackfamily at local parks and events all over the Southeast.
